Weekly Round Up

As usual, I’ve spent my week eating and drinking too much. I’m going to pretend I do this for the blog, so here’s a little round up of some of my food highlights from the week.

200 Degrees

Ad – launch event

200 Degrees have opened a second Birmingham branch on Lower Temple Street. It’s got the same industrial but cosy feel of the original on Colmore Row. You’ll find the same tasty coffee, sandwiches and cakes as the original too.

It’s a great spot to grab a coffee on the go before you head to the station, or to spend some time in the comfortable sitting area.

Coffee By The Casuals

Not an ad, but I did win the coffee in a Twitter competition

I won some coffee from Walsall based roaster, Coffee By The Casuals. They create small batches of artisan coffee, which you can delivered to your door. Currently they have three roasts, which they’ll send you as whole beans or ground for cafetiere, espresso machine or filter.

They sent me their Colombian roast, which has notes of caramel and hazelnut. The blend is smooth and rich. It gets my caffeine addict seal of approval, with the added bonus of supporting a local business.

Digbeth Dining Club Seventh Birthday

Digbeth Dining Club just turned seven, and to celebrate, they threw a three day party, with their first street closure in three years.

I selflessly helped them with their celebrations by loading up on street food and beers. Beef On The Block’s steak special was a thing of beauty, so I’ll now be stalking to them wherever they go. I reached peak burger fangirl by buying a cap with Patty Freak’s logo. I also continued my love affair with There Goes Coffee and their coffee soft serve.

Happy birthday, DDC, you beautiful purveyors of sexy food. Congratulations on the last seven years, and here’s to many more.

The Junction

Dave and I spent our Saturday in Harborne, and stopped in at The Junction for a beer and some bar snacks.

I tried Cooler Shaker, a Pineapple Milkshake IPA, which was as delicious as it sounds. From the bar snacks menu, we hit the padron peppers, a pulled pork pie and deep fried Camembert. The bar snacks are all three for £10, which is a great bargain for something tasty while you drink.
