The fabulous Vanguard has launched the UK’s first Mead based cocktail menu. The cocktail bar and meadery has been championing modern mead since they opened last year, and the new cocktail menu is another innovation in mead.
Mead is made with fermented honey and water, and has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. Vanguard owner Sam Bolton and two of Birmingham’s best bartenders, Luke Morgan and Niamh Neary, have created a menu of mead based cocktails.
The menu covers a wide range of flavour profiles for all tastes. You’ll find re-imagined cocktail classics, such as the Prosecco based Bubble Fiend, the fruity and flirty Meada Colada or the sophisticated Heritage Espresso Martini.
Check out the sweet shop flavours of the Pick N Mix or go floral with Up The Garden Path. Each drink here is expertly crafted, and Sam is always on hand to help you choose a drink you’ll enjoy.
Not sure where to start? Try the Bassano Word, which won the 2018 Battle of Bassano cocktail competition. Crafted by Sam, this drink combines Lyme Bay Rhubarb Mead, lemon grappa and pear brandy.
You’ll find the Vanguard above 1000 Trades in the Jewellery Quarter. Read about my past visits here.
