Midlands Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards, 2018

The Midlands Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards are over for another year. I wanted to stop by and say a massive thank you to everybody who took the time to vote for me. Your support has meant the world to me, and just being a finalist is something I’m immensely proud of.

I spent the evening with fellow Best Food Blog finalists, Laura of Bite Your Brum, Ellen of Eat With Ellen and Kerry of Brum and Beyond. Laura and I have been good friends for a while, but Ellen and Kerry weren’t people I knew well before this crazy journey. The experience has brought us all closer together and I’m so pleased I’ve made two new friends. I’ve said it before, but the majority of the food bloggers in Birmingham that I’ve met are inspiring, hard-working people and these girls are no different. It was an honour to enjoy being a finalist alongside such passionate, talented women.

Ellen carried home the prize in the end, and the rest of us just about deafened the tables around us cheering for her. Ellen is wonderful, and I’m chuffed to bits for her. She’s a true ambassador for the region and I highly recommend you check out her blog, or her excellent journalism (or both).

The finalist experience has been an interesting one to say the least, and I’m sorry to say, not always a positive one. A lot of rude, untrue and unpleasant things have been said about all of us in the run up to the awards, and one idiot decided to tweet our category’s result hours before the awards,  but nevertheless, we four had a great time celebrating Ellen’s win, and our own short-listing.

Caramel Latte Kiss has changed a lot over the years, and I’ve worked hard to make it what it is today. I’m proud of my corner of the internet and I have no plans to stop now. Caramel Latte Kiss will continue to be a place that celebrates Birmingham, with honesty and humour and pride in my work. Thanks for coming along with me for the ride.
