Fandom Teas by Adagio Tea

Considering the name of my blog, you’d be forgiven for thinking that I’m not a fan of tea. Actually, I really do like tea, whether it’s a basic brew, or a fancy loose leaf herbal variety. I like green teas, fruit teas and varieties of white and black tea. If you open the wrong cupboard in my kitchen, boxes of different teas rain down on your head. So when Adagio Teas emailed me and asked if they could send me some of their fandom teas to try, I emailed back YES PLEASE.

Fandom teas

Adagio Teas stock a vast range of loose leaf and bagged tea, from standard black teas, right through to matcha blends. What excited me though, was those fandom teas. Adagio offer a frankly staggering variety of teas based on your favourite fandom. The range is truly mind-boggling with teas themed on anime, comics, books, movies and even musicals, so you can buy teas from Hamilton to Harry Potter. These can be ordered as one tea in a bag, or you can order a sampler box, which you can see above.

I think the samplers are a genius idea. In each box (which is cute in itself), you get a selection of themed teas, each in their own little tin. The tins are prettily decorated and would be lovely to keep to store things afterwards. These are honestly a perfect gift for the nerdy tea drinker in your life. My only criticism would be that the tins don’t all tell you much about the tea other than the name. Same had a list of flavours to expect, and details on what the tea contained, but a lot didn’t. A small sticker on the bottom would do the trick, without spoiling the design.

Loose leaf tea

My tea arrived incredibly quickly, and was well packed in bubble wrap. No worries of a tea spillage here! Each tea was also well packed either in the sampler tins, or in foil bags. I got a variety of the fandom teas, with teas themed on Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Firefly.

The smell as I was unpacking the box was incredible, and each tea I’ve opened has smelt delicious. But would they be those teas that smell great but taste of basically nothing? In a word? No. Be aware these aren’t fruit teas, so don’t expect that ‘grown-up Ribena’ vibe you might get from your fave fruity blend. These teas are largely based in black or rooibos tea, so they taste of actual tea. How many times can I say the word ‘tea’ in one blog post?

Each tea is fragrant and delicately flavoured, with great flavours carefully selected to heighten the base tea used. Drinking them is just enjoyable. They smell good, and the taste matches.

My favourite so far is the ‘Beerbutter’, which is a mix of black and rooibos teas, with natural caramel and vanilla flavours. This smells like good butterscotch, and had beautiful sweetness. Delicious.

Buy these as a treat for yourself, or as a stocking filler for your favourite geek. But do them. They’re excellent.

Adagio Teas sent me a selection of their teas to try, in exchange for review. All opinions are honest and my own.
